A Bronze Picador

A major work by Pierre-Jules Mane (1810-1879) of a proud Picador parading triumphantly around a bullring,

with rose garlands and a ladys fan scattered around the hooves of this fine stallion.

With superb tactile hand-chased surface detail and rich brown patination, raised on a naturalistic integral base. Shown at the Salon des Beaux Arts exhibit of the year.
